Summer

has sunk in...it's smoking hot, literally... just stepped out for a couple of quick photos, but the humidity fogged up the lens... It's only 10ish in the morning and already too hot!!!
Last evening, it rained heavily complete with non-stop lightning... we watched lighning like people watch fireworks... YMCA swim classes got recheduled.
The kids are having fun playing, spending time in the pool, crafting, reading, watching movies... I'm with them too :)
The garden's in full bloom... more fresh flowers around the house...

Lazy days indeed :)

CK's Teen Talent Search

I have posted about this contest here before, but there's a reason why I wanted to discuss it here today.
Spardha, I hope you don't mind me replying to you here instead of via e-mail because I thought it would help anyone in your shoes if they happen to stumble on my blog.
From your email address, I figured that you are in India. Unfortunately, at this moment, this contest is open only to the legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia, as well as all Canadian provinces excluding Quebec of the given age group.
My understanding, and this is just my own understanding, is that the laws are pretty complex which make it virtually impossible for such contests to be open to all.
And if this is any consolation, if my kids were that age, they could not have entered even if they are US citizens because they are related to me and I work for CK.
So, don't lose heart and keep an eye for contests that you can enter. Good luck :)

A rather miscellaneous post

So far, summer has been busy mostly in a good way and hence blogging has sort of taken a backseat for the moment.

I see some new friends on my blog... WELCOME :) I appreciate that you are here!
Smitha, I know how you feel... re-establishing life routine is never easy, especially with a new baby who needs all you can give and more... hang in there :)
Spardha, I'm glad to hear you are interested in entering CK's Teen Talent contest. If you have any questions that I can help you with, please feel free to email me. You can read the details and rules at the CK website.

And for those of who have younger kiddos who do not like to sleep in their own beds or even too scared to sleep in their own rooms, here's something you might like to try. This comes from Jennafer Martin who wrote this e-book Too Many Monsters. Jennafer is also the Editor-in-chief of Creating Keepsakes, a Reiki master and a really cool girl I'm lucky to know personally :)

We are going out tonight to watch Toy Story 3... yay :)
Night night!

CK's New contest: Teen Talent Search

Do you have the July/August issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine? Then flip to page 80...
See the announcement of CK's first ever Teen Talent Search! If you are a teen or know any teens between the ages of 13 and 18 you'll want to check this out! I know I would've loved this contest when I was a teen! Here's a little info about the contest, but be sure to get the full details on the CK website.

We know you've seen the layouts your mom makes, but telling your story goes way beyond that!
Have you ever

  • created a photo and paper collage for your wall or bulletin board,
  • jazzed up a photo with digital elements to create wallpaper for your iPhone, blog, laptop, or to display on your Facebook or MySpace page,
  • decorated your locker with photos,
  • made a scrapbook layout,
  • told a story in a video slideshow, or
  • displayed your photos on canvas, clothing, or a quilt?
However you tell your story, if you're between the ages of 13 and 18, we'd love to see your projects! CK is looking to find your scrapbooking flava, teen style!
Check out the awesome prizes for this contest!

Best of luck and happy Scrappin'!

Flowers

I love marigolds...so simple and pretty. Love the fragrance too...

We planted a bunch of seasonals last year and were pleased to see them come back on their own this year... petunias, marigolds, azaleas. Loving the sunflowers too :)
Big day today: Summer vacation starts in an hour!
Om graduates pre-kindergarten today. Yup, a ceremony complete with a red graduation gown and cap and diploma! CUTE :)

Page for May

at Cocoa Daisy...yeah, it's the 9th and 5 months in a row, I have managed to make one page to summarize each month of 2010 so far. Ongoing projects are a challenge for me. The only reason I have managed this far is because I have kept it SIMPLE.  So, here's the page:

Summer Vacation kicks off tomorrow and I'm excited... I know, my friends think I'm crazy :)
Apart from the karate, piano and swim lessons, we have plans to have a crafty summer. Nini has a long list of books she wants to read. Om is keen on going into the pool everyday. Both want to visit Disney and Mosi and make projects. Nini is expressing much interest to create her very own very first scrapbook album with her school memories of 2009-2010.
Looking forward to no alarm to wake me up early for two months. Yay!!!

What a week!!!

Things haven't been easy these past couple of weeks... some family situations back home, compressed schedules of commuting from one activity to another, not enough time to just sit and think for a few seconds to gain clarity...in short, crazy 2 weeks!!! It's amazing to see how MUCH people just take for granted... more importantly, how to open the eyes of such people to the real reality... oh well, that's a process of a lifetime, I guess!
I haven't made much new stuff that I can share here...it's hot and humid here, that's definitely not helping my restless state of mind. Anyhoo, here's a photo I took in our garden yesterday.

Hopefully, I'll have something worthwhile to share in a few days. Till then, Happy New Week :)

Quick share today...

Busy, busy, busy here... one more week of school and then summer...
Big and overdue clean up projects scheduled...
So humid here!
